À travers cet essai, je me plonge des premiers pas
aux dernières pages, de l'intro à l'outro, c'est-à-dire
au dedans comme à l'extérieur. Du positif au négatif
dans cette frontière de l'entre, là où apparaissent
les ficelles, les tasseaux de bois retenant le décors.
Pour comprendre où se cachent les auteurs, les acteurs,
les artisans et leurs boîte à outils dans l'aventure
de la création et celle de sa revendication, de son
appartenance, de sa réalisation, de son accouchement…
Je me promène au verso des œuvres pour comprendre
quels sont les fonctions et les légitimités du générique
ainsi que celles du colophon à notre époque.
Autrement dit, je questionne ainsi la place du graphiste
dans notre monde. À l'heure des blogs, du graffiti,
où tout le monde a (ou veut) son mot à dire, son quart
d'heure de gloire, quelle est notre place, notre statut
vis-à-vis de la société? Cette quête de reconnaissance
doit-elle être entretenue vis-à-vis d'une pratique
qui s'inscrit dans une continuité historique toujours
en mutation? Essentiellement, le graphiste d'aujourd'hui
est-il un artisan de l'ombre ou un Auteur?

Through this project, I start from the first steps to the last
pages, from the intro to the outro, inside-out. From positive
to negative in this “between' fronteer” where the strings
appear, where the wooden brackets hold the set.
To understand where the authors, actors, craftsman
and their toolbox are hiding in the adventure
of creation and the one of its claim, of its membership,
of its implementation, of its birth... I walk at the works'verso
to understand what are the functions and legitimacy
of the generic and those of the colophon nowadays.
In other words, I question the role of the graphic designer
in our world. In the era of blogs, graffiti, where everyone
has (or wants) his say, wants his fifteen minutes of fame,
what is our place, our status towards society?
Should this quest for recognition be maintained towards
a practice which is part of a historical continuity
still moving? Essentially, is today's graphic designer
a kind of shade'craftsman or is he an Author?
